Description

There are multiple complaints about the very short cycle time for the turn from Beech to Mass Ave — and now it has reached a critical point. This is creating a dangerous, frustrating, and unnecesarily adding to a difficult situation. Red line shuttle buses are clogging the entire street and part of Elm St. before the Beech St turn. Only one single bus can make the turn at Mass Ave per cycle. The timing issue at this light is impacting commuters of all kinds, from the buses that will deliver already frazzled T riders late to Harvard Station, the people living in Beech who are not able to get out of their driveways, and pedestrians who have to dangerously navigate around buses at the Beech and Elm intersections when frustrated drivers who cannot see around the buses are ready to accelerate when they see a gap. What will it take for this timing issue to be corrected?
